one b

I didn't like my "one" post.
So I came up with "one b"!

Having scanned through the topics in the textbook, I felt that this was a preparatory course before we take on the world. Developing effective communication skills—It is important to me because I want to be able to better portray to the world who I want them to see me as. On top of that, I definitely don’t want to be misunderstood. In the professional world, communication skills are switched to “FORMAL” mode. One word misused in your e-mail may cause a misperception, while the whole letter allows someone to pass a judgment on what kind of a person he/she is dealing with, however distorted it may be. Exercise caution and never throw it into the wind.

my stupid mouth

My stupid mouth
Has got me in trouble
I said too much again
To a date over dinner yesterday
And I could see
She was offended
She said "well anyway..."
Just dying for a subject change

Oh, another social casualty
Score one more for me
How could I forget?
Mama said "think before speaking"
No filter in my head
Oh, what's a boy to do
I guess he better find what soon

We bit our lips
She looked out the window
Rolling tiny balls of napkin paper
I played a quick game of chess with the salt and pepper shaker
And I could see clearly, An indelible line was drawn
Between what was good, what JUST slipped out and what went wrong

Oh, the way she feels about me has changed
Thanks for playing, try again.
How could I forget?
Mama said "think before speaking"
No filter in my head
Oh, what's a boy to do
I guess he better find one

I'm never speaking up again
It only hurts me
I'd rather be a mystery
Than she desert me

Oh I'm never speaking up again
Starting now... Starting now

One more thing
Why is it my fault?
So maybe I try too hard
But it's all because of this desire
I just wanna be liked
I just wanna be funny
Looks like the jokes on me
So call me captain backfire

one

Developing effective communication skills can aid me in achieving my goals.

In the very short term, I hope to hone my report writing skills. Final Year Project is just around the corner - I really need to pull up my socks where writing is concerned.

Resume writing, job application letters, interview preparation and performance: these sound just right for landing me in that dream job right after graduation!

Beyond that, speaking fluently in public and in meetings, building interpersonal communication and fostering intercultural communication are going to enhance my position at work, increasing my referent power, maybe even clinching that promotion or year end bonus.

I have always been fearful of becoming a salesman and having to go to great lengths to please my potential customers either to buy my product or to sign up for some good deals. I hope to overcome this fear so that I will have no difficulties in gaining help/sponsors, should I decide to become self-employed, come up with my own innovative idea or a good product blueprint. This will ensure my versatility in today's economy.

Goal setting has always been the first step to becoming successful. It is in the second step where developing effective communication skills come in handy:

Getting there.
